HE Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau (BCCVB) has announced the start of the S.T.A.R. (Service That Attracts Recognition) Awards Program for 2000. Designed to award front-line employees of hospitality-related member businesses for outstanding service, the first S.T.A.R. program was successfully launched in 1999.
"The 1999 S.T.A.R. program was a tremendous success, and this year's program promises to be even better," says Valerie Crapeau, Chairperson of the S.T.A.R Awards Committee. "We'll have more businesses participating, which means more employees will be given the opportunity to receive recognition for the service that makes visiting the Bucks County area so enjoyable."

The program will run from May 27 to August 13, 2000, during which time patrons at participating businesses -- including both visitors and residents -- can submit nominations for employees who exhibit customer service that goes "above and beyond." Winners will be chosen based on the quality of individual services provided. With the support of American Express and US Airways, the top 4 finalists will receive prize packages valued at $1,000, and the grand prize winner will receive awards totaling $5,000. The visitor/patron who nominates the S.T.A.R. Grand Prize winner will receive an all expense paid trip to Bucks County.
"The ultimate goal of the S.T.A.R. program is to raise the standard of customer service throughout the county," adds Crapeau. "Bucks is already known for its wonderful attractions, and enhancing the level of hospitality will increase the tourism that is so vital to our economy."
