01/17/2008 Bucks County CVB Partners with School Works! for Student Art & Literary Contest
The Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau and School Works! invite Bucks County students in kindergarten through 12th grade to participate in an art and literary competition. Celebrating the beauty and history of the region, the theme for the contest is “Experiencing Bucks County – Through the Eyes of its Next Generation.” Winning entries will be part of an exhibition on view at the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem beginning April 12, 2008. The deadline for entries is February 22, 2008.
01/07/2008 Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau Announces Holiday TreeFest Winners
The Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau (BCCVB) revealed the winners of its 2nd annual Holiday TreeFest at an award ceremony on Thursday, January 3. The tourism marketing organization estimates that nearly 4,000 visitors enjoyed the free display of 25 uniquely decorated trees on view at the Bucks County Visitor Center on Street Road in Bensalem from November 20 through January 5.

This dynamic exhibit by the Artists of Yardley (AOY) entitled “Winter: An Artist’s Perspective” is on view November 23, 2007 through January 6, 2008.

Twenty-five whimsically decorated trees transform the Bucks County Visitor Center into a “winter wonderland” during the 2nd annual Holiday TreeFest presented by the Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau. This free display designed by Bucks County businesses and non-profit organizations, kicks off with the official tree lighting and a visit from Santa Claus on November 20, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. and continues through January 5, 2008.

As if people needed another reason to visit Bucks County… The first annual Bucks County Covered Bridges Festival will take place on June 9-10, 2007. The festival, created to raise funds for the preservation of historic covered bridges in Bucks County, will include arts and crafts, vendors, entertainment, and tours of the bridges. Tours, and activities, begin at Tinicum Park.

Bucks County is bursting with vibrant orange, yellows and reds during this time of year. Summer may be coming to an end, but the exciting events and attractions don’t stop!

Bucks County’s beautiful countryside makes it easy to spend an entire day traveling through the county. While driving, visitors can stop by any of the nine wineries or purchase some fresh produce at a farm market. Or pay a visit to a family farm for pick-your-own apples and pumpkins.

Art and Culture abound in Bucks. Theater-lovers have their choice of venues: Sellersville Theater, Bristol Riverside Theater or Commerce Bank Amphitheater for a play, musical, or concert. The James A. Michener Art Museum is always running unique exhibits at their museums in Doylestown and New Hope.

Many Bucks County towns were moderately to severely affected by recent flooding. Fortunately, most of the villages and towns along the Delaware River have recovered fairly quickly, or expect to be up and running within the next few weeks. Some of the hardest hit towns, such as New Hope and Yardley, are almost completely functioning with the exception of a few businesses.

On May 1, 2006, the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association (PTLA) presented Peddler’s Village and The Inn at Bowman’s Hill with prestigious Pennsylvania Spirit of Hospitality Awards. Lynne Amery of The Inn at Bowman’s Hill was presented with the 2006 Pennsylvania Innkeeper of the Year Award, and Peddler’s Village earned the 2005 Community Service Award.

It’s learning about the lives of the people who made you who you are today,” says Susan Koelble, a professional researcher, author, lecturer and co-owner of Bare Roots Publishing, a genealogical publishing company. On Saturday, April 29, 2006, Susan Koelble will return to the Bucks County Visitor Center, 3207 Street Road, Bensalem, to explain how to get started researching and recording your Irish ancestry. The program, which runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., is free and open to the public.
