Bucks County’s Top 11 List of Holiday Festivities
The Holiday Season is upon us. And, what better place to celebrate this festive occasion than Bucks County? Looking for a unique location to kick off the New Year? How about Bucks County?
Into Festivals? Into History? Into Performing Arts? Then get into Bucks County this Holiday season, stay over for a few nights, and see it all!
Check out the Top 11 Holiday Festivities in Bucks County:
- Have a revolutionary experience by witnessing the reenactment of George Washington Crossing the Delaware (www.ushistory.org/washingtoncrossing) at Washington Crossing Historic Park, December 25! Watch the troops row General Washington across the Delaware River, and experience such activities as tavern life in the McKonkey Ferry Inn, open-hearth cooking, and historic demonstrations at this wonderful family event.
- Peddler’s Village (www.peddlersvillage.com) hosts many can’t miss events throughout the Holiday season, including: The Gingerbread House Competition & Display from November 18 through January 5, and Grand Illumination, beginning November 18, where thousands of tiny white lights outline the many Village buildings while colorful lights of such hues as teal, peach, and fuchsia adorn the trees and shrubs at Peddler’s Village.
- Don’t miss Gerald Charles Dickens, great-great-grandson of the literary master, for a heart-warming performance of “A Christmas Carol.” 2005 marks Mr. Dickens’ third year visiting Byers’ Choice (www.byerschoice.com). December 3 will be the performance, but Christmas is year-round at Byers’ Choice!
- On December 4, Shady Brook Farm (www.shadybrookfarm.com) along with Garden of Reflection (www.9-11MemorialGarden.org) will hold a Tree of Hope Dedication Ceremony during which all of the lights will be lit for 2749 seconds, to represent the lives lost on 9-11. After the ceremony, the lights will go out. Light bulbs will be relit through sponsorships. Santa will arrive at Shady Brook Farm by helicopter at 3 pm. Pictures with Santa will be available from 3 pm to 9 pm along with refreshments, wine tasting, product demonstrations, live entertainment and more. The Tree of Hope will be on display at Shady Brook Farm, in conjunction with its’ 11th Annual Holiday Light Show, from 12/4/05 to 01/08/06.
- December 8-9, 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM, Pennsbury Manor (www.pennsburymanor.org) will be lighting the lights for their annual Holly Night celebration. A tradition for over 29 years, these two enchanted evenings are filled with the sights and sounds of the holiday season. Grab your coat, gather family and friends and join in the celebration as William Penn's 17th-century plantation comes alive.
- Tour the Pearl S. Buck House (www.pearlsbuck.org), through December 31, to enjoy the unique Christmas Trees from holidays passed that fill the rooms. The Holiday Tour Festival of Trees is a one-of-a-kind, educational, Holiday Celebration for the entire family.
- Ring in the New Year by celebrating Historic Bristol’s 325th Birthday (www.bristolhistory.org), at First Night. Historic Bristol is holding a smoke-free, alcohol-free, fun-packed evening of family fun! The full evening of entertainment will be followed by a fireworks display at Midnight!
- Do New Year’s Eve right, at Centre for the Arts on Main’s (www.cfaonmain.com) Mango Men Band New Years Eve Party! The festivities begin at 7:00 PM. Reservations are required for this party, (215) 536-3545. The “Roast and Toast” will include a pig roast; tons of other food; free beer, wine, and champagne; performances by The Mango Men; and children’s games and activities.
- Visit the Sellersville Theater (www.st94.com) for “A Snow White Christmas,” December 1-3, 8-10, 15-16 at 10:30 AM, and “Holiday Hop with the Coasters, The Drifters, and The Marvelettes” December 3 at 6:00 & 9:00 PM. Celebrate a Celtic Christmas with “Boys of the Lough,” December 7 at 2:00 PM & 8:00 PM, or a “Christmas in the Caribbean, “ December 17 at 8:00 PM.
- Who could forget the Holiday Festivities at the Bucks County wineries that make up the Bucks County Wine Trail (www.BucksCountyWineTrail.com), December 10-11?
- Santa Claus will come to Doylestown (www.doylestownalive.com) November 25. Come to witness the revealing of the World’s Biggest Dreidel West of the Delaware River, December 15!
