Artists Of Yardley at Bucks County Visitor Center

BUCKS COUNTY, PA – Artists, working in almost every medium, are being displayed at the Bucks County Visitor Center, opening September 19, 2005. The Artists of Yardley exhibit is sponsored by The New Hope Arts Commission, and funded in part by The Pennsylvania Council of the Arts. The exhibit will kick off with a wine and cheese reception on September 18, 2005, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, and will run for six weeks.

"I welcome the Artists of Yardley in showing their works at the Bucks County Visitor Center, and taking part in our ongoing exhibit there. It gives me great pleasure to be able to exhibit works of good artists in the Bucks County area, and the Artists of Yardley are no exception. I have viewed each artist’s work, and find each to be among the best in our region. Thank you Artists of Yardley," says Paul Licitra, Director of the New Hope Arts Commission.

The Artists of Yardley (AOY) organization was formed in the Fall of 2004, and now has over 50 members.  Most members are full-time or part-time professional artists. AOY is committed to enriching the community by promoting public awareness of the arts, and working toward making Yardley an "arts destination" for art collectors and visitors to Bucks County.  AOY also aims to encourage and support local artists by bringing artists together as a community, by providing exhibit opportunities, and by providing educational programs.

One of AOY’s most successful ongoing projects consists of displaying member artwork in local businesses.  The organization displays a rotating exhibit in the Delaware River Gallery, 19 E. Afton Avenue, Yardley, and will participate in Yardley’s Harvest Day on September 24, 2005.

AOY holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at CAPS!, 1 S. Delaware Ave, Yardley, at 7:00 PM.  In addition to discussion of upcoming projects, each meeting features two or three members showing examples of their work and discussing their background, methods, etc.  Meetings are open to the public.
