BUCKS COUNTY, PA – During Independence Day Weekend, the sites and sounds of Bucks County, and the entire Philadelphia region, are alive with a wide variety of celebrations. Combined with a schedule of dynamic theater and music performances, as well as museum exhibitions, Bucks County offers something for everyone.

Celebration of Freedom

Live entertainment including: a Jimmy Buffett cover band, The Mango Men; various children’s activities; picnic-style foods; and drink specials offered in the restaurants (sponsored by Parrot Bay) will be available at this patriotic event. 

 

Fonthill's Old-Fashioned Fourth of July

Experience “the good-old days” as Fonthill re-creates an early 20th century July Fourth Celebration. Festivities include a decorated bike parade, pony rides, a town ball game (19th-century baseball), a watermelon eating contest and free old-time games. Enjoy live music, Phaydeaux’s Fabulous Flying Flea Circus and debate a “woman’s right to vote.” Food available or bid on a picnic basket.   

 

Independence Day Celebration

Come hear the call to the Patriot cause, see the militia taking shape and witness General Washington’s plea for troops as we celebrate the summer of 1776! Kids activities, artillery drills and much more will be featured at this event for the entire family…including a noon time reading of the Declaration of Independence outside the historic McKonkey Ferry Inn/Tavern.

  • Animals on the Loose! A Mercer Menagerie at the Mercer Museum

Join Henry Mercer’s favorite dog, Rollo, on a hands-on, interactive adventure in search of “escaped” animal artifacts from the museum’s collection. Along the way, children will encounter a curious collection of creatures – owl-shaped andirons, rocking horses, pottery dogs, rabbit chocolate molds, an alligator hand puppet, and many more. Designed especially for children ages 3 to 8.

  • The Art of Warner Brothers Cartoons at James A. Michener Art Museum

General admission: Members Free; Adults $6.50; Seniors $6.00; Student/child 6-18 $4.00; Children under 6 Free. Plus special exhibition fee $4.00.
Exhibit consists of over 160 drawings, paintings, “cels,” and related objects used in the making of Warner’s Classic cartoons from the 1930s through 1960.

  • Dolls From the Attic at the Mercer Museum
