01/01/2004     BUCKS COUNTY CONFERENCE AND VISITORS BUREAU OPENS SATELLITE VISITOR CENTER

BUCKS COUNTY, PA - Marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau, Inc. (BCCVB) opened a satellite visitor center at the offices of the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce at 2170 Portzer Road in Quakertown, Pa. On hand for the ribbon cutting this morning were Bucks County Commissioners Michael G. Fitzpatrick, Charles H. Martin and Sandra A. Miller as well as Mike Etzrodt, president of the BCCVB Board of Directors and Denise Bentz, president of the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce

“Tourism is big business and the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce and the BCCVB understand that, ” Fitzpatrick said. “These two organizations working together is a great thing for tourism in Bucks County.”

The cutting of the ribbon initiated a partnership with the BCCVB and the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce, providing the BCCVB with an information-dispensing presence in the northern sector of the 608-square mile county.

“Tourism brings dollars into our area and one of the biggest attractions we have is open space,” Etzrodt said in the ceremony this morning. “With most of the open space in Central and Upper Bucks, this partnership is a great way to promote and preserve it. More and more visitors will be able to enjoy it.”

The Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce will staff the new Visitor Center during the week with the BCCVB staffing it during the weekends. The BCCVB will provide all the literature that is disseminated from the office. Both the BCCVB and the Upper Bucks Chamber see this partnership as an opportunity to serve the businesses of the northern end of the county as well as visitors who want to take advantage of Bucks County.

The new visitor center in Quakertown will be fully staffed by information specialists seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The center will serve visitors traveling to Bucks County from the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s Northeast Extension from the north and south as well as visitors coming from New Jersey, northeastern Pennsylvania, central Pennsylvania and other surrounding districts.

Like the Bucks County Visitor Center that is located in Bensalem, the Upper Bucks Visitor Center will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. It is easily accessible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the intersection of PA Route 663 and Portzer Road.
