03/15/2004     BUCKS COUNTY CONFERENCE AND VISITORS BUREAU WELCOMES

BUCKS COUNTY, PA – The Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau, Inc. (BCCVB), the official tourism promotion agency for Bucks County, announces the recent fulfillment of two key positions. Brady Barr, proprietor of Inn to the Woods Bed and Breakfast, has been elected by the membership to serve a four-year term on the Board of Directors.  Emily Raabe, former press officer for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, has been hired as Public Relations Manager.

“We’re thrilled to announce these appointments,” said Keith Toler, Executive Director of the BCCVB. “The goal of the Conference & Visitors Bureau is to increase visitation to Bucks County, and both Brady and Emily bring great experience and enthusiasm to the job.”

Brady Barr is the proprietor of Inn to the Woods Bed and Breakfast in Washington Crossing. He is a membership ambassador for the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce and a member of the New Hope Chamber of Commerce and the Bucks County Bed and Breakfast Association. Prior to his arrival to Bucks County, Mr. Barr worked in the fashion industry as a senior account executive for Nautica Jeans Company where he was responsible for sales in excess of $9 million annually. His other experience includes working as a national sales manager for Adrienne Vittadini Swimwear and as a buyer for Carson Pirie Scott and Company and Foley’s Division of May Department Stores. In addition to his role as a board member, Mr. Barr serves on the Marketing Committee for the BCCVB.

The BCCVB is governed by a board of directors that is comprised of eleven members appointed by the County Commissioners and up to seven members elected by the membership. The Board of Directors meets monthly to establish policy for the BCCVB. Each board member serves a term of four years. Mr. Barr, elected by the membership, is replacing the position previously held by W.C. Bird, former owner of Ash Mill Farm.

Emily Raabe, a resident of New Hope, served for three years as a press officer for the Philadelphia Museum of Art. There, she successfully promoted the Museum’s programs and exhibitions to regional, national and international art, entertainment and travel writers, television stations and radio stations. Of particular note, she publicized the annual Yuletide Tours of the historic Fairmount Park houses and helped to launch the popular Friday Evenings jazz series. Ms. Raabe began her public relations career at Princeton University Press as a book publicist. She is a member of the Philadelphia Public Relations Association and a member of the Young Friends of the James A. Michener Art Museum. She also serves on the council of Ascension Lutheran Church in Upper Makefield. As Public Relations Manager for the BCCVB, Ms. Raabe will work with the media to promote Bucks County as a tourism destination.
