01/01/2004     PLENTIFUL BUCKS COUNTY SHOPPING DESTINATIONS WORTH THE TRIP

BUCKS COUNTY, PA - Shoppers enjoy the thrill of the hunt, the satisfaction of finding that special something and the pleasure of getting it at a bargain price. Bucks County offers a rewarding shopping experience, for browsers and buyers alike, that matches each of these features with an impressive array of shopping venues.  From open-air markets to specialty boutiques, Bucks County shopping offers something for everyone.

Our shopping hot spots include Chalfont, Lahaska, New Hope, Doylestown, Bristol, Newtown and Quakertown and extend throughout the county’s 630 square miles.  American and European antiques, hand-made crafts, collectibles and classic clothing can be found in unique shops, situated along convivial roadways in small towns throughout the county.

The county’s offerings include antique, collectible and craft shops; food and gourmet shops; furnishing and décor stores; galleries and studios; garden centers, nurseries and florists; specialty shops; and entire shopping villages, malls and outlets.  A prime example is Peddler’s Village in Lahaska.  Peddler’s Village is a charming 18th century style village consisting of 75 quality specialty shops set on 42 acres of landscaped gardens and brick walkways.  There is even a 66-room luxury inn amidst the village for those who like to sleep where they shop in addition to a handful of restaurants that range from casually cozy to romantically urbane.

For early birds and those in search of bargain rare finds, Rice’s Sale & Country Market in New Hope is a must see.  An early Tuesday morning tradition since 1860 (also open Saturday mornings March-December), Rice’s features thirty acres of new items, used items, antiques, produce, Amish meats and baked goods and more.

Outlet shopping is also an option in Bucks County.  The Penn’s Purchase Factory Outlet Stores (in Lahaska across the street from Peddler’s Village) offer shoppers forty of the best names in outlet shopping, from Bass to Izod, in a charming country village setting.  Additionally, the Franklin Mills Mall, “the landmark of the discount shopper”, houses over 200 outlet stores, two food courts and eight restaurants.

The Bucks County Conference & Visitors Bureau, Inc. (BCCVB) is the official tourist promotion agency for Bucks County.  The mission of the BCCVB is to increase visitation in Bucks County by effectively marketing its heritage and diverse site and attractions.  For more information, please call us at (888) 359-9110 or visit us on the web at www.experiencebuckscounty.com.
