03/08/2004     EXHIBIT BY ARTISTS OF CANALWORKS ON VIEW AT VISITOR CENTER

BUCKS COUNTY, PA – An installation of 26 works by seven Bucks County artists is now on display in the Carlin-Hutton Hall at the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem. This dynamic exhibit—featuring watercolor and oil paintings, furniture, stained glass and a variety of mixed media works—will be on view through April 2004. The artists all maintain studios in CanalWorks located at 10 Canal Street in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and this is their first presentation as a group.

“We are very pleased that the Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau, in conjunction with the New Hope Arts Commission, extended to us the invitation to present our work to the many travelers who walk through the Visitors Center,” said watercolor artist Gail Bracegirdle (Bensalem) who is displaying three of her representational paintings in the CanalWorks installation.

The six other CanalWorks artists are: Michael M. Geno (Langhorne), showcasing a series he calls “drive-by landscapes” based on photographs taken while traveling in Vermont; Jess Graves (Bristol), specializing in architectural woodworking, custom cabinetry, furniture making and interior design; David Hunter (Newtown) whose mixed media work relies heavily on both printmaking and hand papermaking processes; John Ivanchenko (Bristol), exhibiting sculptures made of cast aluminum, wood and fired stoneware; stained glass artist, Glass Craftsman Magazine publisher/editor and noted book author Joe Porcelli (Newtown), exhibiting two art glass sculptures and a mosaic tile panel; and Jennifer Renshaw (Langhorne), whose latest work combines oil paint, wax and paper to produce an organic surface with text. The works in this installation are available for purchase through the individual artists.

The Bucks County Visitor Center is located at 3207 Street Road in Bensalem (adjacent to the entrance to Philadelphia Park Racetrack) and is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. It is easily accessible from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Route 1 and Interstate 95.
