Bucks County Attractions > African-American Heritage

African American history in Bucks County is as old as the County itself. The agricultural landscape, food traditions, river and sea trade, craftsmanship, music and art were very early on shaped by the hand of enslaved Africans and later by the hands of freedmen and women.  Historically entwined with Quakers and their Abolitionist movement, African Americans leave a lasting legacy, which can be viewed today at sites throughout all regions of the County.
