Animals on the Loose! A Mercer Menagerie

The festival promotes independent film, with an emphasis on work from the “genius belt” between New York and Philadelphia. This year, the festival also highlights a number of international independent films. The Algonquin Film Festival offers daily workshops designed to help independent filmmakers and to inform and entertain cinephiles. The 2005 festival features a screenwriting seminar by Mark Rosenthal (Mona Lisa Smile and Jewel of the Nile). Film historian Judy Swizer discusses experimental film and screens a surrealist film by Salvador Dali. Entertainment lawyer Bernie Resnick offers commentary during one of numerous educational panel discussions. Film preservationist Lou DiCrisenzo presents an exhibition of lost film comedies of the 30’s and 40’s.


Ticket prices are $32.00 for a day pass (seniors and students, $20.00 with valid ID), $99.00 for a four day pass ($60.00 for students and seniors). Half day tickets are $20.00 ($14.00 for students and seniors). Single tickets for individual films, when available, are $10.00 ($6.00 seniors and students). Join Civil War re-enactors from the McClellan Rangers and other outfits at an encampment marketing the return and re-exhibition of the recently conserved battle flag---the so-called “County Flag”. Visit the soldiers watch demonstrations of camp life, march with uniformed re-enactors, try on equipment, and listen to period music performed by a fife and drum corps. Rain or shine.

Relive a day in May 1862 in this new exhibit memorializing the exploits of Bucks County’s 104th Pennsylvania Regiment at the Battle of Fair Oaks during the Civil War. The exhibit features the recently conserved flag of the 104th, as well as artifacts and artwork that recall the dramatic events of the battle, especially the “rescue of the colors” from capture from Confederate troops.

Parade check-in and registration will be 9:00 – 11:30 A.M.
a. One designated official from the participating unit will report to the Registration desk upon arrival.
b. Registration will take place at the Quakertown West End Fire Co. Park Avenue. At that time you will be directed to your line up position in the parade. All late entries will go to the end of the parade.
