Join Henry Mercer’s favorite dog, Rollo, on a hands-on, interactive adventure in search of “escaped” animal artifacts from the museum’s collection. Along the way, children will encounter a curious collection of creatures – owl-shaped andirons, rocking horses, pottery dogs, rabbit chocolate molds, an alligator hand puppet, and many more. Designed especially for children ages 3 to 8.

Beginning in 1988, Michael Kenna photographed the Nazi concentration and extermination camps. His goal was to convey what he himself found impossible to forget about the camps: the inexpressible suffering of the victims that can only be hinted at by the haunting emptiness of the camps. These 88 images resonate a greater truth that challenges our collective conscience to avoid repeating this dark and sinister part of human history.

The James A. Michener Art Museum in New Hope is proud to announce The Contemporary Eye, featuring the work of twelve Bucks County artists working in a variety of styles and media.  From abstract to realist, in paintings, sculpture, and collage, these artists offer an exciting survey of the local arts scene today.  The Contemporary Eye opens January 28, 2005 and runs through May 8, 2005 in the Museum’s Carol and Louis Della Penna Gallery in New Hope.
